The male half of the couple who engaged in some, ahem, extracurricular activity on top of a very visible University of Southern California roof last weekend has been suspended from his fraternity and could face further punishment from the school.
According to the New York Daily News, the student, who remains unidentified, was put on leave from the Kappa Sigma fraternity for his un-gentlemanly-like behavior. The female half of the duo is not a student at USC.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the school is investigating if the public display, which took place on the roof of a 12-story building, “constituted a violation of university policies that prohibit unauthorized access to building roofs.”
The incident is also being investigated by the school’s Intrafraternity Council and Panhellenic Council, as well as the national office of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, the Daily Trojan reports.
USC Associate Vice President of Student Affairs Denzil Suite offered some harsh words in regards to the event. “To say that we are disappointed in this type of behavior does not begin to capture [the] seriousness with which we regard this type of activity,” Suite wrote in an e-mail to the Trojan. “While I cannot speak to specific actions which will be taken with any individual, suffice to say that this type of conduct cannot go unaddressed.”
The roof-sex incident happened mere weeks after a crude and misogynistic e-mail, allegedly sent by a Kappa Sigma member, roiled campus. USC’s Intrafraternity and Panhellenic Councils are currently working to address matters within the Greek community on campus, and are requiring at least half of each fraternity and sorority’s members to attend an upcoming event focused on domestic violence issues.
